Weapons loadout for Dreadnoughts

The AOBR (addicts know the acronym) dread comes default with a meltimelta and a powerfist. The regular dread has more options to inflict pain on my son's -yet unpainted- Orks. You can choose from 4 different weapons.

I wanted my AOBR dread to be equally as versatile.
To make the weapons interchangeable you need to change the diameter of the AOBR dread's axle to fit the other juicy weapons.
I green-stuffed (if googling is a verb...) the axles to proper size.

Just put some green stuff on an axle, press the weapon of choise onto this axle and the greenstuff will spread itself around the axle. Dont forget to add plenty of water BEFORE you do this or removing the weapon will tear the greenstuff from the axle.

The AOBR weapons had to be adjusted to fit on the regular dread. I cut away 3/4 quarters of the default holes and greenstuffed them to size.

Mind you, the dreads are still WIP, so some details are still to be added/fixed/fiddled with...

All the weapons on display. Notice the greenstuffed axles on the AOBR dread?

AOBR dread with new toyz!

The regular dread loaded out with AOBR goodness.

Static versus dynamic poses

I love the dreadnought from AOBR. But, allthough it's a great mini, it's quite static. After I finished my -first- dreadnought I just had to try my hand at a "real" dreadnought. So, off to the GW store.

When I got home and opened the box I discovered that this model only has a torso that is detached from the legs. The legs themselves are allmost the same as the AOBR model.

Drastic measures were required to get the frame inside my head translated to this not-so dynamic dreadnought.
I cut loose the left leg and rotated it a little to the back. Reattached the tubings (some green stuff was required to fill the gaps). Some green stuff between the torso and legs helped to get a decent position of the torso.

Here is the final result. Cool and menacing.

Next: making the weapons on the AOBR dread and regular dreadnought interchangable.

Modding the captain from AOBR

The Assault On Black Reach box is an awesome purchase. Most of the mini's look great! My 9 year old son is a big Ork-fan.

The only thing that really bothered me was the captain. I just didn't like the look of him. After some cutting and gluing this is the result.
No greenstuff yet.
I'm quite happy with the result and will start painting soon.
Whether I let him keep the banner is still open for debate.
